New iPhone will lift Mobile Gaming Experience
Written by Mel Dunkin
The recent launch of the revolutionary new Apple iPhone is likely to have a huge impact on those who are currently enjoying their online casino play via a mobile phone. All other benefits of the phone’s new generation technology apart, simply having a battery life that has now been extended by a full 40% should prove to be sufficient to get the mobile punters falling over each other in the rush to trade in their ageing mobis for this stunning new offering from Apple.
Limited battery life, particularly with certain cellphone brands and models, has long been a major barrier to the widespread acceptance of mobile gaming, but this new development may well see many more operators rushing to roll out their mobile offerings.
The phone is also lighter and thinner and it has an incredibly sharp, high-resolution display. The screen is capable of 326 pixels per inch resolution, greater than can actually be resolved by the human eye. This means that those stunningly visual games can now be displayed with a degree of realism never before experienced through the online casino software. Apple is calling this new feature its “Retina Display” and it really must be seen to be believed.
Playing casino games on the move has also presented problems of visibility with changes in the ambient light while on the move, in a train for instance, sometimes making it difficult to view the screen display. The designer’s response to the problem was to upgrade the display’s contrast ratio to a vastly improved 800:1. This means that all of the vibrantly coloured graphics that make up the various video slots, video poker and table game screens will now be seen not just more crisply but also far more brightly than ever before.
Some casinos have been developing mobile application specifically for the iPhone over the early part of this year and these should be well positioned to readily adapt their existing mobile offerings to operate on the the new 4G platform, a fact that could well provide a boost to the sales of Apple’s latest new phone as well.
The launch of the new product was announced by Apple's CEO, Steve Job, at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference just two days ago but you will not be able to place an order for the iPhone 4G until June 15th and there is no telling just how long it will be before it finally hits the retailer’s shelves.
My guess is that people will be as willing to queue for this new super-phone as they were for Soccer World Cup tickets, myself included.
