Diners Club International was the world's first charge card and has been in business for more than 50 years. According to popular belief, sometime in 1949, an American businessman was dining out with friends and, when confronted with the bill, found he had left his wallet at home. As he was well known to the restaurateur, he was allowed to leave his business card as an IOU. A year later, the man returned to the same restaurant and, on receiving the bill, presented a cardboard card and signed for the meal. In the credit card industry, this landmark event became known as "The First Supper".

Considering its history as a dining-oriented credit card, Diner's Club is not often the first choice when making a deposit at an online casino. It does have some merit in this capacity, however.
As online casino payment procedure, a Diner's card operates much like any other credit card. Click the chosen casino's banking section, select the credit card option and allow the software to walk you through the deposit process.
Despite recent changes to the US laws governing gambling, US players may normally use Diner's Club, to make a deposit at an online casino. Among the casinos that support US purchases using a Diners Card are Yukon Gold Casino, Zodiac Casino, and e Ballroom. Before you attempt to deposit at an unfamiliar casino, it is wise to check both with the casino and with your credit card issuer, that there are no restrictions on its use.
The casino will require the credit card number, its expiry date, and the three-digit security code found on the reverse of the card. It is also important to ensure, before attempting an online credit card transaction, that the name and address on the card and casino account match one another.

The Diner's Club credit card displays the advantages common to all credit card when used for online casino payments. Transactions are fast, secure providing the account holds sufficient funds, the transfer will occur immediately. On the downside, like other credit cards, the Diner's Club card levies a transaction fee and will charge interest if the amount is not settled timeously. Transaction fees normally amount to about 3% of the value of the transaction while the same, higher interest rate is applied as for cash advances.
Because online gambling is an international business, the gambling venues are normally equipped to handle a range of currencies including US or Canadian dollars, British pounds and Euros. Players, in the know, will often to play in a currency of greater value than their domestic currency as doing so can serve to further increase the value of their winnings when cashed out.

Players from the United States should bear in mind that, because of the recent changes in legislation, they may experience difficulties depositing money at online casinos with a credit card and it is advisable for all US players to first check with both the casino and the card issuer before attempting to do so.

To sum up, a Diner's Club credit card is a good option as an online casino payment method. Its drawbacks include higher interest rates and transaction fees than applicable to other procedures, while is advantages are instant availability of funds and simple transaction monitoring with monthly statements.
